Bubbalee’s Winery, West Kelowna
The concept for this winery is a full retro-diner drive-in. Hot dogs and bubbly wine will be made and served on the premise. The site is currently accessed from the top of the property at Boucherie Road and the goal is to plant a vineyard down to the highway, facing northward. This property takes on an interesting surprise-view to the Okanagan lake, it is visible from Highway 97 and it is situated on West Kelowna’s new wine route. This site has a great deal of potential based on its location. There will be a 2,000 to 2,500 sq.ft tasting room and a 1,500 production building with an estimated total construction budget of $1.5-$1.8M. Our concept of this design will respond to the level ground at the top of the site just off of Boucherie Road and take advantage of the steep slope by placing the production facility at a lower level. This will allow the building to read as a “signboard” from the Highway, harkening back to the “streamline moderne” style of the 1930’s-40’s.
