About

LAKEMONSTERSTUDIO is a new architectural practice based in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. Our design arms stretch from Penticton northward to Revelstoke or wherever our clients roam. Our collective work history centres around institutional, commercial and multi-family projects. We see room for thoughtful, engaging design in the Valley as we chart our own path.

Kimberly and Joshua studied architecture together prior to establishing their careers. A serendipitous reunion led them to band together and form Lake Monster Studio in 2019. Kimberly Fuller became a registered architect in 2016 after practicing in the Northwest Territories. She brings to the table a background in social housing, multi-family, cold climate design and local knowledge. Joshua Lunn became a registered architect in 2014. His background in interior design from Los Angeles and 10 years working in the lower mainland balance this team. Lake Monster Studio is inspired by projects that include community engagement and sustainable design.

Philosophy

We are an architectural practice who’s aim is to help with the densification of cities throughout the Okanagan by reinvigorating urban streetscapes; using design and engagement strategies to help neighborhoods shift to a more sustainable, locally based economy occupying a smaller footprint. We believe architecture has a profound role to play. It must honour local culture while tackling new boundaries all in one breath. It must seek timeless solutions with modern knowledge. It must connect with its environment while helping to preserve it. Although good design principles are the heart-beat of the practice, the everyday is based on interpersonal relationships built professionally and on a community level. The collaborative process is essential to what we do and guides the way as we design your project. Our aim is to contribute to making the built environment better as influencers of social change and environmental design. We are a small, mobile firm that can accommodate tiny or grand ideas.
